Newly-released surveillance footage shows the gunman who fatally shot Charlie Kirk jumping off the roof and escaping in the moments after opening fire.
In the footage, the suspect could be seen running across the roof of the Lossee Center at Utah Valley University.
Once he reaches the edge, the suspect could then be seen climbing down and jumping onto the ground – leaving behind a palm print and a shoe print.
He then runs from the building and starts strolling with the crowd as he casually walks toward a street at the edge of campus, where police say he ducked into a wooded area, from where investigators have found a high-powered rifle.
The suspect then apparently fled into a residential neighborhood.
But Beau Mason, the head of Utah’s Department Public Safety, said officials ‘have no idea’ about the suspect’s identity or where he may be located.
Authorities are now asking the public to be on the lookout for the suspect, noting he had a distinctive t-shirt and a baseball cap with a triangle on it.
‘We cannot do our job without the public’s help right now,’ Utah Gov. Spencer Cox said at a news conference Thursday night, adding that authorities have already received over 7,000 tips and have conducted more than 200 interviews.
